How to Hide Computer Wires on Glass Desk: 6 Easy Hacks

Desk Setup Tips

When it comes to setting up the computer workstation and gaming station, cable management is the biggest problem that people face.

With a typical wooden desk or metal desk, you get full control as it has cable management features to organize and hide the power cords very easily.

But with a glass desk, it’s a pain. Literally, it sucks because they don’t have any cable management features.

These open power cords make our workstation look cluttered, messy, and unprofessional which ultimately leads to poor productivity.

But, the GOOD NEWS is, there are some ways that can help you deal with the cords of electronic devices on a glass computer desk effortlessly.

In this article, I’m sharing 6 cool hacks on how to hide computer wires on a glass desk to make your workstation organized and look professional.

Let’s get started.

6 Easy Hacks on How to Hide Computer Wires on Glass Desk

These are the 6 easiest hacks that could help you minimize the visible messy cords of computer peripherals and other electronics from your glass computer desk.

  1. Run Power Cords Along the Desk Frame
  2. Hide Cords Using Cable Raceway Or Cable Tray
  3. Hide Power Cords Along the Desk Edges
  4. Spiral Wrapping Band Are Budget Options
  5. Run Device Cables Along the Wall
  6. Use Mounted or Floating Computer Monitor

But since the glass desk doesn’t have cable management capabilities in-built, these hacks will require some additional tools to keep the power cords from cluttering the desk.

Don’t worry! all these tools are very affordable and won’t break your bank account. But they will help you create a niche and clean-looking desk setup. 😉

So, without wasting any time, let’s dive straight to the point and see each hack step by step.

1. Run Power Cords Along the Desk Frame

If you have a glass desk that has a thick frame and extra support bar then you have a better chance for cable management than others who have a minimalist kind of glass desk.

Let me tell you how!

Because you can use the desk frame and support bar to hide the computer and other electronic device cables behind them.

Computer wire management with desk frame

To do this, you’ll only require some velcro ties or cable ties and a cable management boxto hide and conceal the power junction.

First of all, place the cable management box under the desk and put the power junction inside this box. This way, you’ll hide the power source neatly.

Now, get those Cable ties and start tying the remaining portion of the cables all the way behind the desk frame and support bar that is going to the devices.

By implementing this, you’ll be able to hide all the open cables precisely so that the cables are away from view.

These Velcro ties and Cable management boxes are very affordable which you can easily get from Amazon at a very cheap price.

This is the easiest and inexpensive way to deal with the computer wires on a glass desk to make your workstation look neat and clean.

However, this solution is suitable when your glass desk is against the wall but not when the desk is in the middle of the room.

Because if your glass computer desk is facing toward the middle of the room, the cables may still be visible when someone enters your room.

2. Hide Cords Using Cable Raceway Or Cable Tray

Using Cable Raceway or cable tray is the next easiest way which will help you deal with all the bunch of power cords by hiding them into it.

This solution is handy for the black tempered glass desk like Walker Edison Soreno that has been placed facing toward the middle of the room.

The benefit of tempered glasses is that they aren’t completely see-through glasses which allows hiding the cable trays under the glass.

The Cable Raceway kit has an opening towards the top from where you will pull all the power cords inside it while the cable tray has an additional cover.

They also have adhesive tape at the back so that it can be easily attached underside of the desk by just removing the tape sticker.

Now, all you have to do is get one of these cable management kits according to your convenience and attach it underneath the glass top.

Make sure you’re attaching the cable trays along the edges of the underneath but not in the middle otherwise it will be clearly visible.

After placing the cable raceway kits where it requires, now start pulling the cords of computers and devices you’ve in your setup inside it one by one.

Once you’ve finished this, you’ll be able to hide computer wires on the glass desk and give your workstation a nice clean aesthetic.

3. Hide Power Cords Along the Desk Edges

This cable management trick is applicable to those glass desks that don’t have a thick frame and support bar.

However, you’ll still be able to hide computer wires behind the slick metal frames but it is only possible when the glass top is not see-through.

But since most glass computer desks have transparent glass tops, hiding the cables behind the frames would not be the best option.

Here, the wise option would be to route the computer wires along the edges of the glass desk.

Cable management along the desk edges

Of course, for this implementation, you’ll require products like cable clips so that you will route the cable orderly through it.

These cable clips have an adhesive back that will attach to the desk’s edges tightly and hold the cables firmly.

4. Spiral Wrapping Band Are Budget Options

Using a Spiral Wrapping band could be another way that could help you in managing the loose cords of electronics and USB devices.

These spiral wrapping bands are sleek and flexible through which you can easily route three to four cables of electronics and USB devices.

And due to the wrapping formation of the band, you’ll not require additional velcro ties or cable ties to bundle the power cables altogether.

So, get this cable wrapping band and route all of the computer and USB device cables into it, and exit near where the devices are placed.

Do not leave this wrapping band floating under the desk, make sure you attach them with the desk frame using zip ties.

Once you finish doing this, you’ll end up managing the loose cords of computer devices and achieve a neat setup appearance.

5. Run Device Cables Along the Wall

Another good option to hide the computer wires on your glass desk would be by running the power cords along the wall.

This cable management solution is ideal only when you’re setting up your glass computer desk against the wall.

It is because, in this solution, you’ll have to hide the computer cables just underneath the desktop where the table meets the wall.

For this solution, first of all, you’ll have to bundle the power cables altogether using velcro ties or cable ties so that it will be easier to fix them onto the wall.

Either you can use a wall-colored cable conduit just below the desktop along the wall and run all the power cables into it and exit nearby to devices.

By doing this, you will be able to hide all the power cords of computers and other electronics for a neat clean workstation setup.

6. Use Mounted or Floating Computer Monitor

Another option to manage the power cords on a glass desk is by mounting the monitor onto the wall or by using a monitor stand and using wireless devices.

This cable management trick is the best solution for people who have a small computer desk and are struggling with a messy workspace.

By mounting the monitor and using wireless devices, you’ll not only be able to manage the cables but also free up some desk space for comfortable work.

And since the wireless keyboard and mouse don’t have cable, you’ll only remain the monitor power cable that needs to be managed for a clean setup.

To mount the monitor onto the wall, you’ll need this monitor mount tool and cable tray to route the monitor power cable through it.

While today many monitor stands come with built-in channels that allow routing the power cable through it away from views.

The NB North Bayou monitor stand is one such great tool for a single monitor that you can get at an amazingly affordable price.

So, by implementing this trick, you’ll end up hiding the power cable that could keep your workspace cluttered.
