Now without wasting any time, let’s see each step one by one and learn how you can maintain the cleanliness of your computer desk.

1. Start Dusting of the Computer Desk

In my opinion, there is no easiest way to keep a computer desk dust-free than by wiping down the dust.

If you’re seeing that dust is forming all over the tabletop just clean it.

Here the best way to keep computer desks dust-free is by always wiping down your desk with a damp cloth or using a spray cleaner.

Take a damp cloth or wet towel and wipe down your desk at least once a day to reduce the accumulation of dust.

I will recommend using a glass cleaner because it won’t leave any streaks and will clean gently without leaving any chemicals behind.

If you don’t want to use glass cleaner, you can also use household cleaners and water.

But, make sure you not only wipe down the desk but also the computer devices and other electronics with the help of these dusting kits.

2. Clean-up Your Room Regularly

It is not your desk that is producing the dust but it is all around your room where the dust is coming from and accumulating on your computer desk.

As I already said that dust accumulation in the room, corners, floors is very common whether it is your home or office.

These little dust particles can easily spread in your room no matter how air-tight your room or office is already.

Hence, to keep your computer desk clean, you need to clean your room including the floor, walls, and every corner at least once a day.

If you have hardwood floors in your room, you can mop the floor with a damp cloth or use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently pick up the dust.

Make sure you avoid using vacuum cleaners on hardwood floors because they could blow dust into the air, which results in floating dust and landing on your desk.

However, how often you should clean your room depends on how dirty your room is. So, if you’re not sure, make sure to do it twice a day.

3. Vacuum the Carpet Frequently

If you’re using carpet in your room no matter whether your computer desk has been set up on the carpet or carpet is away from the desk.

This carpet could be one of the major reasons which are producing the dust and keeping your computer desk dusty more often.

It is because every time you come inside your room from outside, your feet bring in more dirt which gets trapped in the carpet.

And when you walk over the carpet, this dust winds up and as a result, these dust particles get spread all over your computer desk.

Hence, carpet vacuuming is very important to keep the dust away from your computer desk and other electronic devices.

You will need to spare some extra time from your working schedule or you can do this at the same time when you’re cleaning your room.

Believe me, it will not take a longer amount of time than you can expect.

4. Wipe Down Your Ceiling Fan Blades

Another one of the common issues which can keep your computer desk dusty more often is your dirty ceiling fan blades.

However, this issue is something that you can’t easily see because the ceiling fan is too high for your eyesight.

But wiping off the dirt from the ceiling fan blades can make a significant difference when it comes to keeping the computer desk free from dust.

So, if there’s a ceiling fan in your room that hasn’t been cleaned since a long time back, there’s a strong chance that it may be full of dirt.

To make sure whether there is dirt and dust on the blades, get a step ladder or any high table and look at the top of the ceiling fan blades.

If your ceiling fan blades are quite filthy, you’ll need to clean them properly.

Take a towel and some liquid cleaner so that you can wipe down the dirt completely from the ceiling fan blades.

But keep all precautions in mind while wiping off the dirt from the ceiling fan blades such as turn-off the power and having a stable step ladder.

5. Use Tabletop Protector

If you have black furniture (computer desk or gaming desk) or a glass desk then dust accumulation could be a big mess for you to deal with.

You can take steps which I have already explained above to stop dust from accumulating around your computer desk.

Or one of the easiest and best ways to deal with dust accumulation on your computer desk is by using a tabletop protector.

There is a wide range of tabletop protectors available from different companies with good quality which will cost you just a few bucks.

All you have to do is get one tabletop protector according to the size of your computer desk and cover the entire desktop surface.

This way, you can just wipe off the protector to keep the desk dust-free if there is any dust or debris available on the tabletop.

6. Vacuum Your Electronic Devices

Another reason which could make your computer desk dusty is the electronic devices you are using in your setup.

Devices like computers, printers, and phones contribute significantly to the amount of dust in the air due to electrostatic charges they produce that attract other particles.

However, you can not limit the electrostatic charges of the devices but you can vacuum the dust that is attracting from the air.

So, never forget about vacuuming your computer devices periodically as this will help remove any accumulated dirt that gets stuck on these devices.

You can gently clean your computer devices and other expensive electronics using these Dust Swiffer tools.

7. Use Air Purifier

Dust mites are so tiny, they are almost invisible to the eye until they have accumulated on the desk or other devices on the desk.

But why take a chance and increase your work effort when you could easily remove them by using tools like air purifiers.

So, go grab an air purifier and turn it on if your computer workspace or gaming station has high levels of dust.

Plug it in the power source somewhere near your computer desk so it can clean the dust particles in the air and provide you with a clean workspace.

8. Change the Filter of Air Cleaner

Cleaning or changing the filters of air filtering tools can also help you get rid of dust accumulating on your computer desk.

If you’re using air filter tools in your room, make sure their filter is clean and doing the job well with small dust particles.

Because, if the filter is not clean, it could block the air filtration process and as a result, dust will circulate around the room with the filtered air.

If there’s any AC unit in your room, no matter its central air unit or window AC, the filter of these units needs to be cleaned at least once a year.

Or if you’re living in a more dusty and dirty area then this needs to be done even more often.

9. Avoid Using Furniture Oil or Wax

However, furniture oil and wax can easily add a shiny touch to your computer desk but, I would not recommend doing this.

Because these products are prone to attracting dust, there’s a good chance the dust will stick to the desk when you apply these products.

Also, these products can damage the surface of the desk and make it difficult for the desk to breathe and will cause it to rot.

Instead of doing this, the best way to clean your computer desk is to use a dust Swiffer or dry towel and clean the desk regularly to maintain its shining.

Or if you prefer something more natural, I recommend using white vinegar and water in equal proportions.

I would not recommend using paper towels because they tend to leave behind lint which will only stir up the dust on your desk.

Conclusion

Dusting sucks! Honestly for me, cleaning my computer desk is a bit of a headache.

But with the help of the above-mentioned effective hacks, dusting a computer desk can be done very easily after all it’s just cleaning.

Now that you’ve known the possible actions you could take, I hope you’re better able to fight the dusty condition of your computer desk.
